Fields of Glory: Faculty of Agriculture Plows Through Faculty of Physical Sciences with a 4-0 Victory

  By Otaru Testimony Afigie

When the Faculties of Agriculture and Physical Sciences collided in the latest round of fixtures one thing was certain- one of the teams would go home bruised. And so it was as the Faculty of Agriculture emerged 4-0 winners in this one-sided contest.

The match was evenly balanced in it's early stages as both teams surged forward without any side actually controlling the game.

The Physical Science team eventually lived up to their name as they completely dominated the midfield thanks to heroics from Anora, who dictated proceedings from her centre-midfield role. Another stand out player for Physical Science in this period was Divine. Divine consistently terrorised the Agric defenders on the left wing.

Unfortunately, Divine was prone to excessive showboating and was eventually identified as a threat prompting the Agric team to mark her tightly. Consequently Divine was pocketed and largely kept quiet for most parts of the game except for her occasional sprints which usually amounted to nothing, and a shot that crashed onto the crossbar in the latter stages of the game.

Agric soon grew into the game and had a couple of shots on target but the Physical Science duo of Rema and Valerie stood firm to keep the scores goalless.

Agric were caught napping and Anora's deflected pass found Valerie who was right in front of goal. However, Valerie produced a shocking miss that would make Lukaku really proud.

And seconds after, Physical Science were punished.

Substitute Favour, for the Agric team pounced on a loose ball and smashed it into the net to open scoring.

Suddenly, Physical Science's capitulation began.

To make matters worse, Anora who had been Physical Science's Makélélé all along suddenly gassed out resulting in a huge lacuna in the Physical Science's midfield and acres of space for the Agric team to run riot.

This combined with the halfhearted marking from the Physical Science team culminated in Mariam doubling Agric's lead as she simply ran through the middle and scored. Mariam would eventually make it three-nil for her team before halftime with a long range effort.

Looking to control the damage, the coach of the Physical Science team changed the custodian of his goalpost, with Lucy coming in for Ese. Ese was moved forward as a makeshift striker.

Physical Science felt they should have been awarded a penalty when Ese, through on goal, was clattered down by the Agric goalie inside the box. However, the referee awarded a free kick to the Agric team instead.

The Physical Science team then switched off for a second and Mariam seized the opportunity to seal her hat trick with a fine strike just at the edge of the box, the Physical Science team, too dazed to react, could only watch as the ball went in. 4-0.

Meanwhile,Rema stoically continued her defensive duty with valor to keep the score modest, if it could be called that.

As things stand, Agric are seated pretty atop group C, albeit on goal difference and have qualified for the knock out stages of the competition. On the other hand, Physical Science remain third on the log with zero points to their name and an abysmal goal difference of negative 6, which effectively means they should start preparing for next year's competition as a victory in their next match would not be enough to see them through.

Self Care

By Otaru Testimony Afigie PANS, NIGERIA It's 9pm and you've just gotten back from the pharmacy. Of course, you are not yet a pharmacist. You're still a student, but you've been overworked to the point of exhaustion. So tired that you simply collapse on the bed and drift off to sleep, just like the previous nights. Fast forward two weeks, and you are on that same bed, coughing, immobilized, lethargic, shivering under blankets, and informing your boss that you'll be absent from work that day. Let's examine this, shall we? Over the previous months, you effectively discharged your duties, dispensing drugs, and administering injections where necessary. Patients adore you because you know precisely the right drugs for the right ailment. But you've somehow managed to neglect the most important patient of all - yourself. Hours after hours, you attended to several patients who presented with diverse forms of illnesses. For every cefixime you prescribed to a coughing ...
